Ashley Maxwell Gilliam

Southern California Regional Healthcare Manager

Steelcase

Ashley Gilliam has over 20 years of experience creating environments from the macro to micro scale that support positive interaction between patients, family members and care providers to improve health outcomes. Ashley currently works for Steelcase as the Regional Healthcare Manager in Southern California consulting with leading healthcare organizations to provide furniture solutions supporting care delivery and administration services. Prior to joining Steelcase in 2018, Ashley practiced Healthcare Architecture and Interior Design for designing and constructing projects throughout Southern California and the Central Valley.

After specializing in healthcare design for over a decade, Ashley determined that studying the principles of public health would advance her ability to lead in creating healthier interior environments where people live, work, entertain and heal while also learning how to develop programs within the community that result in positive behavior changes. These efforts have provided her with additional knowledge, tools and credibility to work with design teams, hospital facilities leadership and product development teams to assist in research, problem solving, and development of overall planning/design concepts to advance healing. Over the years, Ashley has focused her volunteer efforts to support social marketing campaigns, fundraising and educational event planning for various organizations, promoting professional development within the design community, fundraising for various healthcare delivery and research causes, and supporting donation activities to populations in need.

Ashley received her undergraduate degree in Architecture from Clemson University and Professional Certificate in Interior Design from University of California Los Angeles Extension.  In 2015, she received her Master of Public Health degree from the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA with a focus on Community Health Sciences. Ashley is a LEED and WELL Accredited professional focused on promoting sustainable and healthy building practices. She currently resides in the San Fernando Valley with her husband, 3-year-old daughter and two dogs.
